PROPHETIC PRAYER
Dr. Dallas Eggemeyer ![]() “When He had offered up prayers and supplications, A Prophet communicates the heart of God to His people. Prophecy interprets the divine will and purpose in inspired preaching and teaching. We must interpret scripture by scripture. (2 Peter 1:19-21) Most of the inspired Word of God is prophetic in nature. It would seem reasonable that an unchanging God would continue to use the prophetic to minister to His people. The main purpose of the prophetic ministry is that of reconciliation. The Elijah ministry (prophetic) is a ministry of turning our hearts to the heart of the Father. (Malachi 4:5-6) Prophecies speak to men for edification, exhortation and consolation, so that we may have the mind of Christ. (Joel 2:28-29, Amos 3:7, Acts 2:16-18, 1 Corinthians 14:1-5, 1 Corinthians 2:16b, John 16:13, Ephesians 3:14-19, Faith is the assured expectation of the things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. The true prophetic sees the reality of God's Word as if it is already accomplished. Do we see the vision as if it is real? Will we step out and walk in faith to see the manifestation of the dream? Peter had that kind of spirit. He walked on the water, experienced the supernatural, followed the vision, and carried the Gospel to a different people group. He recognized God wanted him to get out of the "box" of his day. Do we step out of the "box" of our theology to accomplish what the Lord has called us to do? Being on the forefront means taking risks, without that we settle for mediocrity. Are we listening to the direction of the Holy Spirit in obedience to the call? (Hebrews 11:1, Prayer is communion with God. It is our expression of dependence on Him for everything. Intercession is our praying on behalf of others and allowing ourselves to be used by the Holy Spirit to accomplish God's will in their life and in the earth. Prayer is the primary reason for the Armor of God. It is in prayer that we gain access to the power and strength of God. Prayer is the foundation for all spiritual warfare. (Ephesians 5: 10-18) Intercession is at the heart of what the Lord is now doing for the Church. (Hebrews 2:17-18, 5:7, 7:24-25, 13: 15-19) Prayer is the lifeblood of our relationship with God.
