COME BOLDLY

Madaline McFarland

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:16

It was a special evening. We had relatives passing through town and had invited them among others for dinner. All were gathered in our living room afterwards just sitting around, telling stories and enjoying one another’s company. The children were busy playing upstairs making frequent sweeps though the room to make sure they weren’t missing out on anything. My youngest, which had just turned one year old, was busy showing off all his new tricks consisting of multiple high fives and silly faces.

Everyone had been tended to, the children were occupied so I sat in the floor (which I often do) and enjoyed the fellowship. The next thing I remember, my baby had come and stood right in front of me. For what seemed like a minute or two I bobbed from side to side around his head trying to finish the conversation I was engaged in. He just stood there almost eye-to-eye with me waiting patiently.

I stopped what I was saying to look at him and saw fear staring right back at me. Noticing some spit up on the side of his mouth, I reached my finger in and pulled out a piece of scrapbook paper that he was choking on. He gagged a little bit, gave me a hug and went on his way. I sat there speechless. No one else in the room even realized what had just happened. He was choking and could have suffocated if he hadn’t have run to me. I was so amazed at his presence of mind to just come and get in my face because he knew that he was in trouble. He didn’t go and hide, ashamed that he had been into something “off limits”. He didn’t freak out and run away. He calmly and boldly just came and stood at my feet and stared at my face until I took notice.

My gratitude to the Lord was off the charts! Still I am overwhelmed at the guidance of the Holy Spirit to a 1-year-old boy and to those who will listen to Him.

Have you found yourself in an unexpected or hopeless situation? Do you ever feel as though your disobedience to the Lord has isolated you from His presence? Are words of condemnation hurled by the enemy choking your spirit? I say to you… Come Boldly!

On days when you feel overwhelmed with the tasks ahead, when it is impossible to meet everyone’s demand and you feel consumed with exhaustion. I say to you…Come Boldly!

If you are sick and no one seems to be able to help or answer your questions, I say to you …Come Boldly! Like the woman with the issue of blood I encourage you to press through your feelings of rejection and inadequacy. Push past the applauds and acceptance of others and simply grab hold of the hem of His garment.

Have you been called by the Lord to complete a mission in which you don’t feel capable or prepared to do? I say to you… Come boldly before the Lord like Queen Esther. Walk into the throne room of heaven with confidence that your Heavenly Father is waiting for you with open arms prepared to hand over to you His very kingdom. All that He requires of you is love and obedience. He is a God of restoration and is just waiting for you to call upon Him for help. He knows exactly where you are, what you have done, and what you need to be victorious. He has known and cared for you before you were even born. He determines your boundaries and set your times so that you would come boldly before Him. “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;”      Acts 18:26,27.

It doesn’t matter what else He has on His agenda for the day, there is nothing more important to Him than His Beloved (Yes, that is You!). After Jesus’ death and resurrection He was on His way to complete the mission that He had just given His life for. He was just about to complete the final task of redemption by ascending back to the Father when He heard something. It was the tears of his beloved. Mary stood at the tomb in great sorrow that her Lord was missing. He put the eternity of the entire world on hold to stop by and comfort her. Warning her first not to touch Him because He had not yet been to the Father, He revealed who He was and set her back on task of reminding the others of His plans.

There is nothing that can keep you from His presence, so I say to you…Come Boldly! Come Boldly before the throne of grace and stand before your understanding, full of love and compassion Savior that you may obtain mercy and grace in your time of need. He knows and can identify with all your struggles and temptations because He passed through the heavens Himself. There is no demonic force or temptation you will ever be faced with that He has not already confronted and defeated!

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest
Who has gone through the heavens,
 Jesus the Son of God,
Let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
For we do not have a high priest
Who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
But we have one who has been tempted in every way,
Just as we are~yet was without sin.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,
So that we may receive mercy
And find grace to help us in our time of need."

Hebrews 4:14-16

Come boldly before your Father in heaven who longs to give His children good gifts and wants to reward those who believe in him. Make your request known before the Lord. Ask, seek and knock and He will answer you. Cast your cares on Him and He will give you peace for anxiety, beauty for ashes and joy for mourning.

Come Boldly before your Beloved. You are always welcome in His presence. Ask what you will, the answer to all His promises are always Yes and. Amen!

Well, what are you waiting for? There is no time like the present! Oh and I'll tell you a secret... He is always home and never too busy for you!
